Orange Center STEAM Academy

Lift Orlando and OCPS have partnered to create what is believed to be Florida's first district-to-charter school in the 32805 ZIP Code. The pilot at Orange Center STEAM Academy, formerly known as Orange Center Elementary School, located in the 32805 ZIP Code integrates high-quality academics with comprehensive wraparound support for students and families. Students currently zoned for Orange Center receive priority enrollment, ensuring the school serves the local community first. The school currently serves more than 450 students and is one of the few schools that is increasing enrollment within Orange County School District.

The collaborative partnership between OCPS and Lift Orlando is designed to expand over time, with Orange Center evolving into a K–8 STEAM academy by 2028-2029. National partners, including Purpose Built Communities and Harlem Children’s Zone, provide guidance and technical assistance. Lift Orlando is continuing to support other neighborhood schools throughout the 32805 ZIP Code with early learning programs, afterschool and summer programs, family stability services, and health initiatives.

The pilot school is operated by the Neighborhood Schools Initiative, Inc. (NSI), a separate nonprofit supported and overseen by Lift Orlando and OCPS. NSI ensures operational flexibility while maintaining transparency and accountability to the School Board.
